Counter-Rotating Wind Turbine

Project Title: Design a Counter-Rotating Wind Turbine.

Objective: The primary objective of this project is to design a contra-rotating wind turbine using SolidWorks, leveraging insights and data obtained from research papers. Contra-rotating wind turbines are an innovative solution aimed at enhancing the efficiency and power output of traditional wind turbines by employing two rotors that rotate in opposite directions.

Background: Wind turbines are a critical component of renewable energy systems, converting kinetic energy from wind into electrical power. Traditional wind turbines, however, face limitations in efficiency due to wake losses and aerodynamic inefficiencies. Contra-rotating wind turbines address these issues by utilizing a secondary rotor that spins in the opposite direction to the primary rotor, thus capturing energy more effectively from the wind stream and reducing wake losses.
